Well today I am spending my day at home (other than a trip to the grocery store) I just have to do some cleaning and laundry folding/ putting away. I have done more laundry in the past few weeks then I know what to do with. I have not had a chance to fold any of it or put any of it away. Brad folded a bunch of it and it is still sitting where it was placed.
EVERY DAY LIFE:
Let me fill you in on our little Benjamin:
Benjamin has been so cute lately. He asks about his brother a lot. If he hasn't seen Caleb when he gets up he will say "baby?" This morning Benjamin was blowing his nose and decided Caleb needed to blow his too, so he went over to the swing Caleb was in and put the kleenex up to his nose, looked at me and said "nose."
I had the Regis and Kelly show on this morning and they were showing a cooking segment at the same time Benjamin was using his big wooden spoon and bowl and was "cooking" on the coffee table. He started watching the cooking segment and copied what they were doing on the show. It was really cute.
At night when I put Benjamin to bed, it is our Mommy and Benjamin time. We read books and cuddle and have our little routine. Well part of our routine is our goodnight kiss before we cuddle in the chair and get in bed. Benjamin thinks it is really funny when he gives mommy a kiss. After he gives me a kiss we "rub noses" (eskimo kisses) and Benjamin will just bust out laughing every time and say "nose, nose." Well recently we have been adding Benjamin learning to say his prayers at night. It is very simple and I will say Benjamin say "thank you Jesus, I love you Jesus, Night Night Jesus" He will put his little hands together and just say "Gee-shush" and then he giggles.
Books are one of Benjamin's favorite things! He loves to look at them. We are not sure how he knows, but he always knows when things are food in the pictures. He has this christmas book that is a gingerbread land thing with candy and stuff like that. We don't give him candy or anything like that and we have never told him the book has things to eat. He just walked over with the book and said "yum yum" He has started doing this with anything he knows is food, trees with fruit on them (he knows it is to eat). It is just crazy how fast kids develop and learn.
"No No" has become a common phrase in our household. I am not sure if i posted this or not, so here it is again if I did. I was in the kitchen cooking a meal for a family who had a baby (this is before Caleb was born) and I had the oven on and the oven light was on. Well Benjamin decided he was going to constantly keep putting his hand on the oven door and then try and look in the oven window. He got his hand popped a few times but kept going back and putting his hand on the door. Well he finally went and got his little rocking chair, brought it into the kitchen and put it in front of the oven and he sat in his chair and just looked in the window.
It is so hard to discipline him. It breaks my heart, but we know we have to be consistent. If we say no and he keeps doing something we have to pop his hand. Sometimes it is for things that are just so silly, but if we don't stay consistent he will pick up on that.
We have been trying to really include Benjamin in the things we do. Cleaning, cooking, helping with the baby etc. The other day I walked in the living room and Benjamin is on the floor with a paper towel wiping it on the floor. I was like Benjamin what are you doing? His reply "keen" he was cleaning my floor. (Was he trying to tell me something?) He also LOVES to sweep and will beg for the broom. We are going to see if the Easter Bunny will bring him a broom. We have also realized that if we include Benjamin in making his dinner or whatever it is, it will keep him from shutting down and throwing a fit. Well included in this is helping pick up toys and his new favorite is to help throw things away. He also likes to help put groceries away.
Throwing fits is something new that is developing in our sweet little boy. If he doesn't get his way IMMEDIATELY or at all he will just throw himself down on the floor and start to cry. I just stand there and say "ok Benjamin when you are done throwing a fit let mommy know" and then I start to walk away ( he usually stops immediately) It is amazing to me that this is something that is just a part of a child. He has never watched me or Brad fall to the floor and cry.
Ok.. this is my last Benjamin update.. My friend Laura got Benjamin an Easter book about these bunnies. Well one day when my mom was here he brought that book to her and was sitting in her lap. Well mom was reading it to him and was saying the bunnies go "boing boing boing" and she would bounce him when she said it... well Benjamin thought it was hilarious and has NOT forgotten it. The next morning he woke up and first thing he did was get the book and bring it to me saying "boing boing"
Benjamin is just so fun at this age. He keeps us laughing and he is ALWAYS happy! He brings so much joy to our lives and I just can't imagine life without him. I can't even remember what it was like before he was born. I just love my family so much...
Strollers:
Well it has arrived! My city mini double stroller arrived yesterday and I am SUPER EXCITED!! I love it! It fits easily through doorways and moves so easily! I put Benjamin in it and he loved it. He didn't feel so confined. We were going to take the boys on a stroller ride, but it started getting so cold and today is just really cold. I can't wait to use my stroller!
Spit Up:
Caleb is a much different eater then Benjamin was. He spits up a lot more! Yesterday I fed Caleb while I was waiting on someone who was bringing us a meal. I got him all fed and changed and burped... WELL... right after I got him taken care of he spit up a lot all over his clothes... So we did a wardrobe change and then he wanted more to eat, so I fed him more. Right as I got him changed I picked him up and he spit up even more than before all over his outfit. This happened right as the person got here with our meal. So i just answered the door and then put Caleb in his carseat for the time being. Well as soon as I put him in the carseat he had a MAJOR spit up.. Everything he had eaten came up. Soaked him, soaked the carseat, and even dripped out of the bottom of the carseat onto the table. I finally had to get him changed (again) and then took the carseat apart and had to wash everything. I am starting to wonder if Caleb has some reflux. I take him to the doctor next week, so we are going to have to talk about it. He just spits up a ton!
Despite all these things it has been so wonderful being with my boys so much. I feel so much more patient this time around. I just know I can't get to everything. I have to take things one day at a time. If i get the dishes done Great! if not Oh well! I am just having so much fun and wouldn't change anything!
