On Monday Sep. 24th I went to the doctor and my blood pressure was still elevated. My doctor did another ultrasound to measure everything on the baby and to watch for his movement and breathing. Everything checked out fine with him. He was doing well. She put me on full bed rest. This is the
appointment where my mom ended up staying home from california. So I have done nothing all week. My mom has cleaned my house, kept everything in order, watched my kids etc. My mother in law has also been watching the boys and helping me where she can. Friends have brought us meals which has been amazing. Bed rest however has been very hard and at times very boring. There is only so much TV you can watch etc. I will say that it is also amazing with all the rest how tired and worn out this makes your body.
So as something to occupy my time I got one of the boys coloring books and spent the afternoon coloring. It was enjoyable. When Brad walked in from work and saw me coloring he was like "wow you are really bored!"
On Thursday I had to get my mother in law to come over at 7:45 to get the kids ready for school, so that I could get to my doctor appointment at 8:30. We had to leave early because of school and work traffic. It also ended up that I only got about 2 hours of sleep the night before because Benjamin was up coughing and getting out of bed to come in my room etc. I had to call the pediatrician to get him in to see someone due to the fact that I thought we would possibly be inducing this week and I can't bring a newborn home to a sick big brother. So my mother in law had to drop Caleb off at school and Benjamin had to go to the doctor. At the doctor office they did a non-fetal stress test on the baby. They wanted to make sure the Blood Pressure was not making his heart rate drop or causing stress on him. I laid there about an hour while they monitored him. He did the same thing that he did at the hospital the week before and went into sleep mode so I had to eat something and drink apple juice to try and get him to wake up. This is my lovely picture during the stress test. Can you tell I am tired?
After the stress test my doctor checked me and I was 1cm. She really felt that I needed to go ahead and be induced so that this condition could be eliminated. The catch is that there are new regulations about induction and doctors are not supposed to induce before 39 weeks. In order for her to be able to induce me she was going to have to call someone higher up and get permission for the induction. So while I was already out with my mom we got a bite to eat and then she took me to Wisteria and we got our toes done. It was all stuff I could do while sitting down and I didn't have to walk much.
I got my toes painted blue in honor of our little one arriving on Tuesday. Mom went with a fall pumpkin color :)
Three times yesterday I had some very strong contractions. At one point I had to get my mom to pull over in a church parking lot because I came very close to throwing up in her car. I am hoping with those contractions I will be more dilated by Monday afternoon at my appointment.
Later yesterday afternoon my doctor called me and said that the guy above her said it would be fine to induce me. He even said we could induce today, but due to my doctor being on short hospital hours she was afraid I would not be ready to deliver before she had to leave to go out of town. So we decided to deliver on Tuesday October 2nd. I am so excited and can't wait. I am so ready for the baby to be here. I told my doctor this blood pressure issue is just tiring and makes you feel bad so I am ready to have this little guy.
