Amoxicillin or Crack?

Thursday was a rough day. I am not sure if the doctors office gave Caleb amoxicillin or if they really gave him crack! Now I have never been around anyone who was on crack, but I think it would be something like my day on Thursday with Caleb. Caleb was out of control from the time he took his medicine until bedtime. I was exhausted. Let me backtrack a little to Wednesday.

I planned a fun day with the boys. At 11 am we picked up Benjamins friend Red and headed to Pump It Up so they could exert all their energy before coming back to our house to play. A few days prior to this Caleb kept saying he was itching on his legs. I assumed it was winter skin.. dry itchy and in need of lotion. I put him in an oatmeal bath to calm the itching and covered him in lotion before bed. In the middle of the night he came in our room complaining about itching as well. (back to Wednesday) We made it back home to play and have lunch etc and Caleb was still complaining of itching, I had some Benadryl gel that I put on him before his nap. When he woke up he was covered in red patches all over his legs and arms and he was miserable with itching. I knew I needed to take him to the doctors but I was not about to drag 2, 5 year olds, Caleb and a 2 month old to the doctors office. Luckily Brad got home early from work so I called and they said come right now. We got to the doctors office and when we got there Caleb said " mommy my throat hurts." The doctor came in and immediately said "I bet he has strep thoat" This was very confusing to me.. we were there for an itchy rash. Sure enough he had strep. I have never had strep so this was all new to me. If i had remembered my schooling, I would have remembered that strep with a rash is called Scarlet Fever. So I exposed my friends child to it unknowingly so we had to quickly do a kid swap etc. Caleb got his medicine and went to bed.

Fast forward back to Thursday morning. I wake up and I am in need of coffee big time. I sit on the couch next to Caleb and the next thing I know I have feet on my shoulders and in my face. Then he is doing acrobats on the couch. Next he is talking and asking questions but his mind and mouth are moving faster then I can ever answer him. He wants to cuddle but he can't sit still. A little while later he is eathing a cheese stick but part of it broke so it is no longer any good and can't be eaten. Next thing I know that said hald chewed cheese stick is sticking to the back of my neck and Caleb is giggling. This was nonstop all day. I couldn't get upset becasue the poor kid couldn't help it. He literally could not control his body. So I am still not convinced that it is really amoxicillin. The itching is still there but slightly better and he has seemed to calm down from the frantic activity. At least next time I will know what might be going on with full body itching and a sore throat.
