If there is one thing I thrive on, it is a productive day. They are usually days where I wake up rested, get my coffee, and the kids are not going nuts. Today was one of those days. It is the last day of Christmas Vacation. The kids go back to school tomorrow and I wanted to have a clean or as clean as possible, house before we get back into the swing of things. I started my cleaning (which I did not completely finish) I got the boys to start their laundry so all their school clothes would be washed.
Ever since August I have made my older two boys do their own laundry. I assist them to make sure they put it on the right setting or don't pour the whole bottle of laundry detergent into the washer. They fold what needs to be folded and they hand up what needs to be hung. It is not perfect, but I said there are things my boys WILL know how to do for their wives one day, laundry and cooking and cleaning are some of them. They are things Brad does well and often, and I am thankful for that.
So Brad's grandmother (gigi) is almost 96 years old and before Christmas she fell getting out of bed and broke a rib, fractured another and it caused pneumonia to set in. She ended up in the hospital and was able to come home Christmas Day. She is in need of pretty much full time care and Brad's aunt is pretty exhausted. She and Brads mom have really helped me a lot over the years and I wanted to do what I could to help, so I decided making meals would be one way I could take the burden of cooking off of them. So I started them today. I got my crock pots going and made a pot of Minestrone soup which is Gigi's favorite that I make, then I made taco soup, and then a pot of vegetable beef soup. I put together two meals of California pot roast, 2 parmesan meatloaves, cranberry apple pork roast, and then pork chops with apples and sweet potatoes. I also got stuff ready to make chicken pot pies and chicken and rice casserole. I managed to go grocery shopping with two of my boys, then took them to ride bikes. I got about 6 loads of laundry done, two loads of dishes, made dinner for the family, helped/guided Benjamin in cleaning his room. It was a lot and now I am worn out! I am happy to be able to help make it easier on Brad's aunt and mom by making meals.
Tomorrow I am excited that I will be back to eating healthy and all the junk food is GONE! I am so tired of all the holiday food. I am so ready to get back to exercising, but I don't get released for at least another 3 weeks. I am ready to reach my final weight loss goal.
Today I completed day 3 of the Orange Rhino Challenge! 3 days NO yelling. It doesn't even feel hard to control this time. It is what I want and it just seems normal and easy to not yell. I hope it continues because I don't want to be a yelling mom anymore.
Alright well sometime soon I will get all the Christmas pictures downloaded and can upload some of them.
