Day 2
Today was much better! Brad woke up still feeling exhausted, but better. We got the kids breakfast at the hotel and then packed up and got back on the Rolling Ruckus. While Brad and the kids were doing things, to get ready to go I took Brads prescription over to the Publix next door and got it filled and picked up some Gatorade. I walked back over and we got loaded up, backed the Rolling Ruckus through the hotel parking lot and off we went. Before we left Caleb was saying his chest was hurting and I realized that he was really nervous about leaving after yesterday and the events that happened. I told him that everything was ok and he has to remember that God is in control. As we left we said a prayer and headed out on the road. Brad was going to get us out of Atlanta and then I would take over. We left around 11am eastern time, but soon crossed time zones in Alabama. Once we got going and we knew the RV was doing fine we all felt so much better and stared settling in to a long ride.
When I was sure we would be ok, I started looking into where to stop for the night. I had to call and cancel our reservations because the distance we planned on the day before wasn't possible. We didn't make it to Tupelo and we couldn't drive the distance to Oklahoma in a day. I spent a while re-routing and trying to find a place with something available. With it being Memorial Day weekend things were really booked up. I finally found something in Russellville Arkansas called Ivy's Cove RV Retreat. They had a few spots left and we were able to grab one. We had a destination and a plan for the day. We knew it would be a long day of driving with a few stops along the way. This was our starting mileage. Soon after leaving we crossed into Alabama, but missed a picture of the sign as we crossed through.Stop #1 - Buc-ee's in Leeds, AL. If you have not been to one yet, they are for sure an experience. They have really good brisket sandwiches as well. Now everyone in our family can say they have experienced a Buc-ee's.
Eden and Elijah like to sit on the floor in front of the driver seat sometimes as well.
In Arkansas we saw a beautiful sunset, had cheese quesadillas on the road for dinner, played cards, and a roadside bingo and put down electronics to enjoy the scenery. Our windshield is filthy and we keep trying to get all the bugs off but its still so covered.
Benjamin trying to get all the bugs off the windshield.
Quesadilla dinner on the go- nothing quite like a microwave quesadilla for dinner.
Starting to watch the sunset and enjoying the scenery.
The beautiful Arkansas sunset. We loved watching it as we drove through.
The kids decided to play some cards after the sun set.
Then they were playing roadside bingo
Soon after this the sun was down, Eden was getting tired and cranky so we put on her PJ's and got a blanket and she sat up front with me. It wasn't long before we put the table down into a bed and she got in her sleeping bag and played her tablet. Caleb got cozy on the couch and the other boys laid on the bed. As it turned to dark, we realized that our RV lights while they work, they are really dim and it was really hard to see. We are going to see if we can get someone to meet us at one of the RV parks to change out the bulbs or see if there is something else we can do. We rolled into our campsite around 10:00 pm after driving 621 miles and we basically went straight to bed. Everyone was pretty tired. It was a good 2nd day and thankfully there was nothing bad that happened. Tomorrow we head out fairly early and will cross over into Oklahoma and then into New Mexico for the night.
