Our First Date as Parents...

That's right, Brad and I went out on a "date" last night. We took Benjamin to my parents and off we went to the movies. It was fun to go see a movie, something we rarely do anyway unless we have gift cards. We saw national treasure 2, which surprisingly was very good for a sequel to a movie. I enjoyed my time with Brad so much, but we were both excited to go and pick up Benjamin after the movie.
We were pretty sure Benjamin was going to have a very awake night last night, because he slept almost all day long. When we dropped him off at my parents I asked them to try their best to keep him awake as long as possible, and they did a wonderful job! Last night was our best night yet. He slept from 11:30 to 7:30 this morning! YAY! Brad and I got up about 8 times to walk into his room and put his pacifier back in his mouth. We are hoping he will figure out this whole thumb thing really soon, so we can omit the pacifier and not worry about it falling out. In the middle of the night when I hear him fussing I will turn the screen on, on the video monitor and watch him a little to see if he will settle down himself and it is so sad at how frustrated he is trying to make his thumb go in his mouth. He knows it is a part of his hand and that he can somehow get it in his mouth, but he doesn't know that he is keeping his hands all closed up. He will eventually figure it out I am sure.
He is really starting to coo and "talk" when he is awake. His smiles are getting bigger and occurring more often. This morning at 7:30 I had so much fun after I fed him because he was all smiles and just talking away! He is so much fun and I am just enjoying every moment with him and being a mother. Here are some new pictures.

Uncle Brent came to visit the night before he left to go back to California.

Doing what he does best.... sleeping the day away.

hanging out with Uncle Brandon

Tummy time... working on turning his head from side to side.

This is Brad saying goodbye to his favorite hat. He decided yesterday to clean out some stuff and get rid of some things and he felt it was finally time to let go of his beloved hat.

Snoozing on mom...
