K is for...

is for Killer Deals....

So I was reading a friends blog and she had posted about something she was going to try with CVS.. I started reading and then got interested. I have a CVS card, I used my card, but never knew there was more to it than just a few lower prices on some things. You see, CVS has what is called Extra Care Bucks (ECB's) they print out sometimes at the bottom of your receipt.. I never knew what they were for, so I threw them away. However there is a way to use your extra care bucks and get products for almost nothing. It took spending a little at first, but once you get some ECB's and work it with some coupons, there are some amazing "killer" deals to be had. Here is what I purchased
Day 1- I went to CVS and bought the Venus Razor and 2 tubes of Colgate toothpaste. My total came to $13.93 and I got 10 ECB's back. (so now I basically have 10.00 to use at CVS) so really I only spent $3.93 on those items.

Day 2- I went back to CVS today and got 2 more tubes of toothpaste but I had a $1.00 off coupon and used 4 of my ECB's. I ended up paying $1.10 and I got 4 ECB's for buying those products, so I am back up to 10ECB's. On my way home tonight I stopped again at CVS because they have a deal where certain products were on sale and if you spent $30.00 they would give you 15 ECB's. So here is what I did. I had coupons for each item I wanted to buy that was part of the promotion- The paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, diapers and Kleenex. After my coupons, my total came to $22.99 but then I got 15 ECB's so it was like spending $7.99 on all those items. (If I had paid regular price without any coupons, ECB's or the sale price, the total would have been $48.07) So now I can save up some ECB's or use some of them on items that I could end up getting more ECB's and then I end up not paying anything, or almost nothing. It is a little confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it is kind of fun and almost a challenge to figure out the best deal. So thank you Carrie for posting about your CVS experience. I have always been a fan of coupons or a good deal, so I am having fun with this one.

Oh.. you are probably wondering why I would need 4 tubes of toothpaste... I am working on what is called "stockpiling" I do this with groceries.. but the idea is to always have what you need, so for example I always have at least 3 to 5 of the can goods I use most often. So with the toothpaste, it will be a while before I need to buy more... when I get down to 1 tube, I will get more.

So last night was Benjamin's first lunar eclipse- He wasn't too interested, but I tried to get a picture of it. I was a little shaky, so they came out a little blurry but oh well.

Tonight Benjamin was exhausted and fell asleep while I was holding him. I decided to put him down in our family room. I have realized he likes things that are cushy, so I put him on this pillow to sleep around 8pm and it is 11:19 and he is still sleeping. I am going to have to wake him up to feed him. This probably means he is going to be up early in the morning as well since he will have had plenty of sleep.
Just a cute picture.
