Well lets see.. what's new... well I forgot to share that I bought a sewing machine. I was thrilled to get it. I got it and told Brad it was my graduation gift from him. I already got most of one curtain done. I am just waiting to sew one side of it, because I want to do a trim on it and have not purchased it. I found the one I wanted but it was SO expensive..(of course). It would have cost me 500.00 for just the trim and that was 35% off. I hate having expensive taste because I can never afford the things I like. It seemed stupid to spend money like that on tassels and beads.
That same day I also made a purchase for solar lights for our walkway. I really like them. They don't put off that much light at night, but just enough to make them worth the money I spent on them. I just thought they were cute.
I have started a new thing with Benjamin. Brad and I have had discussions about the way that Bible stories are taught to children. They make them into a fairy tale so much that the truth is taken out of them and kids then view these amazing stories with incredible lessons like they would peter pan or dumbo. The stories even find a way to make the tower of babel seem like a nice story. Anyway we have been trying to come up with a way to make these stories in the bible real so our kids won't grow up thinking of them as sweet stories, but they will see them as real truths. Anyway we have not figured it out quite yet, but I have started reading the bible to Benjamin. I know he doesn't understand it, but when I give him that last bottle of the night I read to him. I stared with creation and read it straight from the bible. He just lays there eating and listening to me, and he is always nice and calm. Anyway I remember someone telling me that even if you are going through a dry season in your walk it is better to read something, or spend some time with the Lord than none at all, so I am viewing this a little in the same way, that it never hurts to read the Word.
Benjamin LOVES to sit and listen to Brad play guitar and sing. As you can see in the above picture he will just stare at Brad. He is all smiles when Brad sings to him. One new thing that Benjamin and I do while Brad plays is dance. It is so funny because he will just laugh and thinks the bouncing around is so fun.
Benjamin has a new little routine he follows now once he gets in his crib to fall asleep. He has to have his pacifier (usually just until he falls asleep) and now he has to have his blanket in one hand and his stuffed dog in the other. He likes to hold on to the dogs ears and a lot of times at first will just rub the stuffed animal on his face. It is really cute. I think he is for sure going to have something he is very attached to that will be his "comfort" item.
This picture is what we now do while I am cooking, or when one of us is doing dishes etc. Benjamin sits in the bumbo seat on the counter while we are doing things. This way he can watch and we can talk to him and he feels a part of things. The other thing I do is put his Johnny Jump up in the doorway so he can be involved and then I don't have to always put on Baby Einstein while I am cooking.
Brad and I have decided to begin Dave Ramsey's money makeover. With school and hospital bills, we have added up some debts that we want to get paid off. You all know I enjoy saving money or getting a good deal, so this new system is going to be a new challenge for me. I will keep you up to date on how it goes.
This week I had the chance to go to dinner with my good friend Sarah Weber. We went and got sushi which was wonderful. I had to call Brad to come get Benjamin because he was talking so much and so loud in the restaurant that I was afraid he was disturbing people. It was so good to hang out with Sarah and catch up with her. I have only known Sarah for a few years, but have really grown to value her friendship. She is very wise and very in tune with the Lord. I am always eager to hear the things she is learning because it is always encouraging.
Today I had a really cute little old lady as one of my patients and after I finished cleaning her teeth I was sitting at the computer to check her out for the day, and I noticed she got pretty quiet and as I was about to walk her out to the reception desk, she looked at me and said "do you know our Lord Jesus to be your personal savior" I was gladly able to reply "yes, I have known him for a very long time!" Then she gave me a hug and said "well I guess I will see you in heaven then." I thought it was really sweet of her. It made my day.
Well that is my week so far.. I am not doing much with CVS this week.. Not too many good deals. I am about to go through coupons and make a much needed grocery list.
