Decorating on a Budget...

I am not the world's greatest decorator, but I have had a lot of friends tell me that I do a good job and my house feels warm and homey, (when it is clean of course). I decided to share a few ideas that I have used or learned along the way.

Idea #1.
I took this idea from pottery barn a few years ago and thought I would share it. I love the way it looks on the wall. It is simple. Get a cheap curtain rod (I got this one at big lots) and get a roll of ribbon (It won't cost you more than a few dollars) Start collecting picture frames (they don't all have to be one color). You hang the ribbon on the rod and just let it hang behind the pictures. Hang the pictures on the wall in whatever design you prefer. I did mine in all black and white.

Idea #2: This is a very simple way to make a doorway decorative. I got these for $2.00 each at hobby lobby (during their 50% off sale) which happens all the time. I also have some smaller white ones for my bedroom doorway. This just adds a little decoration at a very small price.

Idea #3:

The house I lived in before we bought our house had a fairly small 2nd bedroom. I couldn't fit a bed frame with a headboard and footboard, so I had to get creative. I got a mattress frame and then used 3 of these iron wall hangings and hung them side by side to use as a headboard. It turned out great! I think each one was somewhere around $12.00 from Old Time Pottery. By the way this was not my idea but an idea I got from my friend Shanah Keyes.

Idea #4: Nightstands... Like I said I didn't have a lot of space in the room, and there was no way to have nightstands and the dresser that was in there, so I got two of these decorative shelf things that hang on the wall and put them on either side of the bed. I had two small lamps, one for each side of the bed that fit perfectly on them. This provided small nightstands that worked perfectly. They were a little more expensive (maybe $20.00 each) I can't really remember, but if you searched enough, you could find a good deal I am sure.
