So today I went to the doctor for my 35 week appointment. When I woke up this morning I felt really swollen, my ring was tight, my hands felt very tight and swollen and so did my feet. My feet didn't look swollen but felt it. I woke up in the middle of the night once and for some reason knew my doctor was going to tell me that I had to be on "rest." I just didn't feel exactly right. So I got to my appointment and was very calm (i don't get nervous etc) well when she did my blood pressure I immediately said"my blood pressure is really high today isn't it?" she said yes it is 156 over ?. I don't remember the bottom number. I told her I knew she was going to say it was high and that my hands just felt so swollen. She had me lay on my left side for a few minutes until the doctor came in to get my BP again. When my doctor came in and took it my top number had dropped and the lower number was over 90. This is a big concern in pregnancy. She measured the baby, and checked my reflexes and also for any edema. There was no protein in my urine sample but she ordered blood work and an ultrasound. I have never had high blood pressure. It is always between 118 and 125 ish over like 60. I was not worried as the baby was moving a lot today. The blood work will let them know if there is protein which can indicate preclampsia. The ultrasound was completely normal and the baby looks great. He is measuring 5lbs 6oz at this point which made me feel better becuase I was convinced he was going to be a big baby. So what now? I was sent home for a few days of complete rest. (it is hard for me to just rest) My doctor really wanted to see me agian tomorrow but she is on call at the hospital tomorrow so I will see her again on Thursday. She told me all the things to watch for that would be an indication that I should get to the hospital. I am now moving from every two weeks going to appointemnts to now being seen 2 times a week. This will only change if my blood pressure is back to normal the next few times I go in. If my blood pressure stays high we are probably looking at a delivery in the next 9 days or more. It just depends on what my BP does. So I lucked out today because my husband came home from work by 10am due to rain and tomorrow my mom is going to get the boys and let them spend the night with them. I will go back to the doctor on Thursday. I am just glad that our little one is fine.
OH... As some of you know I have been skeptical that this baby is really a boy as everything points to me haivng a girl. So i planned for a boy, decorated for a boy etc. I asked the ultrasound tech today to just double check gender and she said he is for sure a boy. So now I have no doubts about this being a little boy. I will update later on how things are going.

Oh no! Hope your next appointment shows your BP to be normal. I had some high blood pressure with my first towards the end but after lying down, it would go back down.
So glad everything's okay for now - please let me know if we can do anything!
Also... bring on the BOY!! ;)
